You are…

SAAIf I asked you to name everything you loved,

how long would it take you to name yourself?

This post came to me as I was watching Lady Gaga’s music video to “Til It Happens to You.” If you haven’t watched that video, you should do that immediately. The link is at the bottom of this post. Sexual assault is more prevalent than we like to believe. It is something no one wants to talk about, but it is something that needs to be talked about.

No one knows how it feels unless it has happened to them. The pain, the stress, the low self-worth that comes with being sexually assaulted are all things victims wish they could explain; there are no words for these emotions. It is not easy, and victims often have a hard time believing it gets better.

Even if you have not been sexually assaulted, God wants you to know what he thinks about you. He loves you, and you are always precious and dear to him no matter what kind of pain you are dealing with.

  1. You are loved. -Jeremiah 31:3
  2. You are strong. -Psalm 68:35
  3. You are protected. -Psalm 121:3
  4. You are chosen. -John 15:16
  5. You are beautiful. -Psalm 45:11
  6. You are precious.-1 Corinthians 6:19-20
  7. You are a new creation. -2 Corinthians 5:17
  8. You are empowered. -Philippians 4:13
  9. You are family. -Ephesians 2:19
  10. You are mine. -Isaiah 43:1

You are never alone. There are so many people who want to help you when you are ready for their help. This world may feel big, scary, and very lonely, but one thing you should know is you never have you go through it alone.

Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself -Coco Chanel
Beauty isn’t defined by height, weight, physical attractiveness, or anything physical for that matter. Beauty is defined by simply being yourself.

The trick to being beautiful is knowing who YOU are. Many people in this world go years without knowing who they are, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Knowing who you want to be isn’t an easy task; it’s not something you just know. “Yourself” is something you FIND

The adventure of finding yourself can be a daring, life changing experience. This adventure is going to be filled with many different paths; only one path is the one where you will find yourself. It’s like the interstate system. If you choose the wrong one, you can take the next exit to “Your Highway.”

Finding yourself is nothing to fear. You’ll get lost. You’ll mess up. You’ll feel emotion. But it’s the most beautiful thing that can ever happen to you. You’ll find out what you want out of life. Whether it be happiness, love, laughter, or joy, you’ll figure out what you expect out of this crazy world. You’ll be able to do things that make YOU happy, and you’ll no longer worry what makes everyone else happy.

I was on the road to finding myself, and I lost a lot of what I worked years to achieve. Looking back it was a blessing. I am now back on the road to finding myself and being myself, and it has started a fire in my soul that no one can put out. Being myself is something no one should ever be able to take away from me.

I do enjoy photoshoots; I love every minute of them. However, I don’t need a photoshoot or a comment on a picture to define beauty within myself; my beauty was defined the moment I decided to be exactly who I was meant to be.

There’s so much out there to see, and there’s someone for you to be. See it all, and be yourself.

Inspired: of extraordinary quality, as if arising from some external creative impulse.

Above is the definition Google gave me when I searched “inspired.” People can feel inspired to do anything if they have that certain push over the edge. We can do anything if we can find that little piece of motivation and run with it.
I’ve always heard an inspiration can come from anywhere in this world; it can come from a person, quote, bible verse, and many other things. My inspiration tip toed in my room as I was just dozing off; it came as a voice I found so familiar, a voice I knew I needed to answer to. I rolled over and asked him with a laugh, “Dylan, what in the world are you doing?” He sat down on my bed, and of course conversation started to flow. Conversation comes easy when you’re sitting with him; it’s a breath of fresh air when you’re talking to someone so genuine.

This conversation wasn’t one I was expecting. We chatted briefly about school, but quickly transitioned into a recent photo I had posted online. This turned into one of the most inspiring conversations I’ve had in a very long time. If I take one thing away from tonight, it will be this, “Don’t stop trying. Don’t let those people get to you.”

No matter what you do in this life you should be doing it for yourself. Your life should please you–and for me, the Lord. You should find yourself and make sure the person you want to be is who you’re striving to be. Happiness can come easy in this crazy world, but you have to first allow yourself to go down a path that will give you the chance to be happy. Don’t let society ruin who you want to be because you think you’re not good enough. You’re always good enough.

Inspiration came in a perfect disguise tonight, and I truly can’t thank the Lord enough for that. I can tell you I’m inspired to do something that makes me happy; I’m inspired to be who I want to be.

Let yourself be inspired. Don’t hold it back; it could be something extraordinary.

Thank you for the company, Dylan. I will forever enjoy our talks.
